Terms and Conditions

 

  • The Ship has a maximum capacity of 22 seated & 40 people maximum seated and standing.
  • For all bookings, there is no onsite contact for the Ship.  A Guest Services agent will be at the Information Kiosk for any questions and for opening the door to the Ship. The Guest Services agent cannot leave their kiosk post.  This is why we recommend appointing a person from your party to greet guests as they arrive to assist our Guest Service Staff in ensuring only invited guests board the Ship. 
  • Guests may use the main deck of the ship only.  Please note:  the floor on the main deck is uneven.
  • The Ship is NOT wheelchair or stroller accessible.
  • Please take note that the Ship will be decorated for Christmas from approximately mid-November to mid-January.
  • IMPORTANT: Set-up and tear down times must be included in the rental times.
  • There is no running water/bathroom facility aboard the Ship.  The closest washrooms are located at the food court (next to Professor Wem’s Adventure Golf) or at L1 Lounge at Fantasyland Hotel.
  • Please note that the Ship has no electricity except for the sound system area and a technician is needed to help with set-up to avoid breakage to our internal system.  Please note pricing below.  Please confirm all details with Group Sales at least 10 business days before your event.  It is important to note that all must be paid before your event.
  • Please note that this is a family atmosphere and all participants of your group must be properly attired.
  • Please note year round you can experience warm temperatures due to the skylight directly above the Ship.
  • Please note that the Ship can be a noisy area due to Mall traffic.
  • All music and/or announcements must be kept at an appropriate level.
  • During peak Mall hours there could be a large number of curious onlookers. West Edmonton Mall cannot be responsible for the conduct of Mall patrons.
  • Sea Lions’ Rock presentations occur weekly at 2 p.m. on Saturdays. During these shows please expect larger crowds in the area and possible excessive noise. Shows and show times are subject to change.
  • No outside food and beverage is permitted onboard. Client must purchase either through Group Sales department or vendor inside of West Edmonton Mall on BRBN Street or through food courts.
  • Due to licensing restrictions, alcohol may be supplied aboard the Ship only through WEM’s caterers.  All orders for food and beverage must be received at the Group Sales office at least 10 business days before the group’s event.  Failure to send this information to Group Sales within this timeline will result in WEM’s caterers being unable to provide the requested food and beverage order.
  • All exclusive (private) rentals are booked on a first come, first serve basis and are subject to availability. Some blackout dates may apply.
  • West Edmonton Mall reserves the right to cancel bookings at any time.
  • Rates are subject to change without notice at any time.
  • Guests agree to begin their function promptly at the scheduled time and to vacate premises at the end time of your reservation.  Please note when reserving an end of day event that group must vacate the ship at closing time, no extensions.

 

EXTRA COSTS – must be booked and paid for through Group Sales before your event. To inquire about availability, they can be reached by phone at 780-444-5308 or by email at groups@wem.ca:

  • Please take note that the Ship rental comes with 6 wooden tables of 4, maximum capacity of 22 seated & 40 people maximum seated and standing, and the set-up cannot be changed. For any additional tables for food or other, please advise Group Sales and there may be an extra charge for set-up of these tables.  Please note also that due to the uneven floor, a maximum of 3 (6 foot) extra tables is allowed and there will be an extra charge of $15.00 per table, plus 5% GST.
  • OPTIONAL – For access to electricity, as well as for the internal sound system on the ship, the following pricing will need to be confirmed and paid for before your event. Sound system access: $35.00 per day, plus 5% GST, plus technician support (required for sound system access and electricity) - $35.00 per hour, per technician, plus 5% GST.
  • No tablecloths included. If you require tablecloths, please contact Group Sales to make arrangements.

 

BAR SERVICE for the Ship can be provided by World Waterpark only:

        • An AGLC License is required for the Ship and all paperwork will be done by Group Sales and forwarded to World Waterpark for processing. A $25.00 cost for the license will be charged to your group. (5% GST not included in this rate but will be on your invoice).
        • Due the open location of the Ship, only HOST BARS are allowed onboard.
        • Bartender fee: $75.00 for the first hour and $25.00 for each additional hour, plus 5% GST.
        • Please note that a minimum alcohol sale of $750.00 (non-refundable) +gst+18% gratuity is required per reservation and is due upon booking. If your group surpasses the $750 minimum, then the amount served will be charged to your group. Additionally, as liquor is served aboard the Ship, food must be ordered via our internal caterers.  
        • If client will be having delivery of tables or other items, please verify when these items can be delivered with Group Sales. Not all times will be available due to other groups or Mall hours.

  • Installation of decorations must be discussed at the time of booking. The following items are not permitted: helium
    filled balloons, flame torches, candles, rice, birdseed, confetti, silly string or piñatas. All decorations must not
    damage or affect the ship’s paint or wood in any way.
  • The client is responsible for cleanup of facility after the event. West Edmonton Mall will access the area after client’s
    departure to make sure clean-up has been taken care of by client and no damages to the facility have occurred.
    West Edmonton Mall reserves the right to require the client to pay for any extra clean-up or damages to the facility
    resulting from or caused by the event.
